Das Dot Zombie · Last updated: 1 October 2026
Das Dot Zombie ("the game", "we", "us") is a single-player mobile game. This policy explains exactly what information the game handles, why, and what control you have over it. It is written to be readable by a parent, not only by a lawyer.
When you finish a run you may optionally type a nickname and submit your score. If you do, we store:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The nickname you type (maximum 16 characters) | To show who set the score on the public leaderboard |
| Your score and the wave you reached | To rank entries |
| The date and time of submission | To order and moderate entries |
| The anonymous game ID described in section 2 | So a score can be removed, and a rule-breaker blocked, without affecting anyone else |
This nickname is displayed publicly to everyone who opens the High Scores screen. Please do not enter your real name, school, or any other information that identifies you. The game filters obvious inappropriate words, but you should still choose a nickname that is not personally identifying.
When the game first opens it creates a random anonymous ID for the app on your device and stores it on our server. This happens even if you never submit a score. It contains no personal information: no name, no email address, no account, and nothing that identifies you or your device to us.
It exists so the leaderboard can be kept safe for children. Because scores are linked to this ID we can:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Limit how many scores can be sent in a short time | Stops the leaderboard being flooded |
| Count repeated attempts to submit an offensive nickname | Blocks repeat offenders automatically |
| Record whether this ID has been blocked from submitting | Removes bad actors without punishing everyone |
We never link this ID to a real identity, and we cannot use it to contact you. It is not used for advertising or tracking you across other apps or websites. Reinstalling the game, or clearing the app's data, creates a brand new ID and disconnects you from the old one.
The following never leaves your phone. It is not transmitted to us or anyone else, and we cannot see it:
| Stored value | Purpose |
|---|---|
ddz_crystals | Your purple crystal balance |
ddz_unlockedCharacters | Which characters you have unlocked |
selectedCharacter | The character you are currently using |
ddz_bestScore | Your personal best, shown on the menu |
playerNickname | Remembers your last nickname so you don't retype it |
ddz_walletSeeded | Records that starting crystals were granted once |
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the game permanently erases all of this, including unlocked characters and crystals. There is currently no cloud backup, so this cannot be recovered.
The Android app offers one optional rewarded ad: when you lose a run you may choose to watch a short video to get a second life. You never have to watch an ad to play. The web version of the game shows no ads.
These ads are served by Google AdMob. We set up every ad request so that:
To show an ad and prevent ad fraud, Google AdMob automatically receives some technical information from your device. This includes your IP address (which can reveal an approximate location, such as your country or city), the device model and operating system, an app-specific ID that is not the advertising ID, and information about how the ad was shown and whether it was watched. We do not receive this information ourselves. Google explains how it uses it at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The app uses the INTERNET permission to load and submit
leaderboard scores, create the anonymous game ID described above, and load
the optional rewarded ad. The ad library may also check whether the device is
online. The app does not request the advertising ID
permission.
The game contains no third-party analytics or tracking of any kind.
This game is designed to be suitable for children. We deliberately keep data collection to a minimum: there is nothing to sign up for, no username or password, no messaging between players, and no way for a player to be contacted through the game. The anonymous game ID described above is created automatically and holds no personal details — it cannot be used to identify or reach anyone.
The only information a child can share is a self-chosen nickname on the leaderboard, and that is entirely optional. We encourage parents to talk to their children about choosing a nickname that does not reveal who they are.
If you believe a child has submitted information that identifies them and you would like it removed, contact us using the details below and we will delete it promptly.
| Service | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (database hosting) | Leaderboard nickname, score, wave, timestamp, and the anonymous game ID | Stores and serves the public leaderboard, and keeps the anonymous ID used for moderation |
| Google AdMob (Android app only) | The technical device information described in section 4, only when an ad is loaded or shown | Shows the optional rewarded ad and prevents ad fraud. Ads are non-personalised and child-directed |
We do not sell personal information. Nothing we store (your nickname, score or anonymous game ID) is shared with Google AdMob or any advertiser.
Leaderboard entries are kept for as long as the leaderboard exists, because removing them would change the rankings. You can ask us to delete a specific entry at any time.
To request deletion of your data, email dasdotzombie@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data”. Please include the nickname you used and roughly when you played, so we can find the right entries — we have no other way to identify you. We will delete the matching leaderboard scores and the anonymous ID linked to them, and reply to confirm once it is done.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data, such as the right to access or correct it. Contact us and we will help.
Leaderboard data is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection and stored by Supabase. Because leaderboard nicknames are intended to be shown publicly, they should never contain anything private.
If the game changes in a way that affects your privacy — for example if cloud saves are added — we will update this policy and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's store listing release notes.
